Finally I did it! I bought Cossacks - Back to war and my inspiration turned to despair because steam let us buy it, but STEAM DID NOT LET US PLAY TOGETHER!! Steam community I strongly beg all your attention to my post because I want to attrack steam attention, because they are selling that game but it's absolutely impossible to play together, multiplay mode is not available at all, at all!!! So It was no sense buying it, because you cannot play it with others players, but what we do know about steam? Steam is already united millions people around the globe where everyone can play with others. So what I been expecting before buying Cossacks - Back to War? I been expecting that it would be possible for me to play with others players by steam server but what I did get?
I have already understood that steam don't changed nothing, they are only selling this game but they didn't adopt it to the steam community at all. So I must say: Steam programmers you have two ways of solving that problem. Firstable, you must adopt it for steam multiplayer regime or you MUST NOT SELL AT ALL, because I could buy it by myself somewhere in my near store, so I am very dissapointed. Please, fix cossacks to the steam community. Let all steam players play together in cossacks!!!!

Steam is just a platform for game developers to sell games, and it's these developers who are responsible for their games. In fact, Steam isn't involved with any servers for any games out there. Valve is in some instances, because they made some of these games, and some are integrated into Steams server browser, but that's a minortiy actually. It's not Steams responsebility, and there is no problem with Cossacks multiplayer if you want to play it. No, I cannot agree with you, because by steam you can also a participate to another gamer, for example, steam is always showing someone playing any game, so if this game is available for multiplay genre why it's not available to participate to that player if he already a created map and just waiting for another gamers? It's so easy to make it!

I'm not exactly sure on how much trouble it is to get servers up and running for an old and (sadly) very underpopulated game (and having to do that even though the original publisher is still kicking and actually responsible for that), but just adding Gameranger.exe to your library, and maybe renaming it to 'Cossacks Multiplayer' so that other people know you are playing Cossacks multiplayer sounds a lot easier. That's not how it works, and I guess I also made a little slip before when I said 'developers'.
It's actually the publishers, the company that owns the rights to the game. And that's GSC Gameworld, and they are still around and kicking. And even if they weren't, someone would have to pick up the rights on the game (at least if they wanted to sell it. Making it freeware could be a legal grey area).

Also, the reason why ingame online-multiplayer doesn't work is because noone is hosting servers, which was previously done by Gamespy. Hosting those servers would cost money, and that's the main reason noone is doing it right now. It's just not profitable for anyone.
